Court challenge to postal voting system

A High Court judge will hear an unprecedented legal application today which could lead to the postponement of the General Election over fears of postal voting fraud.
The judge will consider an application by Birmingham City Council deputy leader John Hemming for permission to seek judicial review of the May 5 poll.

The preliminary hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London coincides with high-level talks between police chiefs and senior civil servants to discuss the threat of ballot-rigging in the election.
