Cowboy builder jailed for seven years

A cowboy builder has been jailed at Hove Crown Court for seven years after fleecing two customers out of more than £100k.
Sam Mitchell, 51, was told by the judge he had 'no idea of honesty and decency' and was convicted of three counts of obtaining property by deception and five counts of obtaining a money transfer by deception.

Leonard Heal, 80, was forced to sell his home after parting with his life savings and had to take out loans to pay Mr Mitchell.

Similar offences were also taken into account including tricking a woman aged 83 out of £7,500.

Mr Mitchell's daughter, Emma Mitchell, was found guilty of two lesser offences and is due to be sentenced.
