CPCS to add two categories

THE Construction Plant Competence Scheme is to have two new categories from July 1 to increase qualifications in the crane sector.

The Appointed Person and Crane Supervisor (lifting operations) cards cover the planning and controlling of lifts respectively and for new entrants are four-day courses, including a test.

Both cards can be achieved by an experienced worker route, subject to a set of criteria from the CPCS.

They both require the filling in of an appointed person self-profile form CPCS 15, which measures existing knowledge and helps tailor the course.
