Crackdown on Christmas drunks

The Government's Christmas crackdown on drunken yobs was launched today - just eight days before controversial reform of opening hours comes into force.
Police are to get an extra £2.5 million from the Home Office to combat drunken behaviour.

The launch of the Christmas and New Year booze operation comes more than a month earlier than last year, meaning it will cover the advent of 24-hour licensing next Thursday, November 24.
