Crane tops theft list

Theft figures released by the National Plant and Equipment Register reveal that £440,000 of equipment was stolen in January.

The most expensive piece of equipment stolen was a crane worth £64,500. The crane, which was made by Fassi, was stolen on the 12 January in Essex.

The most popular target for thieves was excavators, which accounted for eight of the 21 thefts.
