Cruickshanks wins £8m wind farm job

Cruickshanks, the high voltage substation business of Balfour Kilpatrick, has been awarded an £8 million contract by Scottish Power Energy Networks to connect the Clyde wind farm into the electricity transmission network.

Cruickshanks will project manage, design, supply, install and commission 00/275/33kV switchgear, civil works and ancillary equipment for the 21-month substation connection project.

Clyde wind farm is set to become Europe's largest onshore wind farm, capable of Powering 320,000 homes.

It will be built in clusters of turbines near the M74 close to Abington and will have a total generation capacity of 548 megawatts.
