Dawn back in the black

Prestwick-based property and construction outfit Dawn has returned to profit just a year after recording heavy losses.
In the year to January 2005, pre-tax profits hit £6.8 million on a turnover of £79.3 million compared to a loss of £1.8 million the previous year.

The firm's construction division saw the biggest turnaround with a pre tax profit of £2.7 million on a reduced turnover of £59 million compared to £73.4 million last year.

Group chairman Alan Macdonald said this was due to careful contract selection and focusing on sensibly priced opportunities.

Dawn Homes' pre tax profits were up £1.7 million to £3.2 million after focusing on land acquisition.
