Dean and Dyball secures £6.2m contract

Dean and Dyball has secured a £6.2 million design and build contract for a new retail and commercial development in South Wales. The scheme in Swansea town centre is being led Thurleigh Estates. Work is due to start on site in the next few weeks, with completion planned for Christmas 2008.

Pettifer Estates has submitted an outline planning application to The Highland Council for a proposed £20 million retail development at Forres Road in Nairn. The site is situated to the south of the existing Balmakeith Industrial Estate in the Scottish Highlands. If planning is secured, work could start early next year.

John Sisk has been officially appointed as main contractor for a £66 million deal refurbish the Grosvenor House Apartments on Park Lane in London and transform them into a super-deluxe apartment hotel. The Grosvenor House apartment scheme is being developed by SPARC, a representative for Grosvenor House Apartments Limited. The firms are owned by Park Lane Properties Limited, a company led by Middle East investment managers, ADEEM Investments and The Investment Dar.

Queen Mary, University of London is seeking contractors for a £10 million deal to construct a new humanities building in east London. The five storey block will be built at the University’s Mile End campus. Firms have until 19 October to request to participate.

Three firms are vying for a place on a £14 million deal to build new health facilities in North Staffordshire. Mansell, Eric Wright and local firm Metnor are lining up for the deal to build a new care centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme for regeneration agency English Partnerships. Work will involve building new GP surgeries, residential units and an extra care facility for the elderly. Tenders are due to be returned later this month and a start on site is planned for early 2008.
