DEEP IMPACT: Long-reach specialist WM Plant Hire has been using a 26 m reach Cat 375 excavator on construction of offshore wind turbines at North Hoyle, 6 km off the north Wales coast. Contractor Briggs Marine has been using the machine to place crushed slate up to 20 m underwater to protect the base of the turbine support piles, working with a team of divers.
