Defence seeks green light for training venue

The Ministry of Defence is planning a new training facility in Torpoint, Cornwell.

It has applied to Caradon District Council to build the Replenishment at Sea facility, used to simulate a Royal Navy ship taking stores and fuel from a Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel, at HMS Raleigh.

A spokesman says work should begin next year if the project is approved. The new venue to replace an existing training facility following trials to finish in 2010.
