Demco relines with band aid for sewers

Materials

MATERIAL used for bandages is to be applied to relining sewer pipes.

The system, known as the Brawoliner method, will use material produced by German medical firm Karl Otto Braun.

Coventry-based sewer relining material supplier Demco is marketing the method - which is based on an environmentally-friendly epoxy resin incorporated into woven fabric - in the UK.

It is aimed at contractors operating in the household sewer maintenance and repair market.

Mike Park, Demco's sales and technical director, says the system is odourless and shrink-resistant.

He claimed: 'Flexibility gives stretch around 90 degree bendsand increased thickness allows for full design against hydrostatic pressure.'

The system is understood to take the same time to install as conventional relining processes and a certification scheme has been set up to train contractors in its use.
