Developer sought for New Smithfield Market

Urban regeneration firm New East Manchester is looking for a development partner for New Smithfield Market in Openshaw, east Manchester.

The existing market has been operating on its current site since 1972 and has approximately 30,000 m2 of lettable space on a 35 acre site just outside Manchester city centre.

Acting chief executive for New East Manchester Eddie Smith said: "We want to realise the potential of this important market for wholesale food suppliers within the North West.

"We are looking for an experienced and dynamic development partner to work with us to deliver an innovative and sustainable scheme for the region."

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 24th March 2008.
