Dishonest director sentenced

NEWS

THE DIRECTOR of an M&E firm in Nottinghamshire has been given 240 hours community service after stealing £9,000 from the company.

Nottinghamshire Crown Court passed sentence on Mark Baker, former operations director of Nomenca, after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Baker, who earned £56,000 a year, spent company money on a raft of expensive computer and gym equipment.

The judge also ordered Baker, 36, from North Humberside, to pay more than £8,000 in compensation and costs.

Nomenca - part of the North Midland Construction group - called in police a year ago after accountants queried Baker's payments.

The company said: 'We believe this will give out a strong message that dishonesty by those in positions of trust, or otherwise, will not be tolerated.'
