Doosan closes Geith factory

Doosan Infracore International has announced the closure of excavator manufacturer Geith’s south Wales factory.

Parent company Doosan Infracore said it will move production from its site in Tredegar to its factory in Slane, Ireland.

Geith makes buckets and attachments for the construction and mining industry.

The company blamed a decline in the construction equipment industry in Western Europe and North America for the closure.

The firm said it will work to find its Tredegar employees alternative employment until the end of the year.
