Drivas Jonas to masterplan Olympic canoeing venue

The Olympic Delivery Authority is pressing ahead with plans for a new whitewater canoe slalom course in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, to act as a host venue for London's 2012 Olympic Games.

A consultancy team led by Drivers Jonas is to begin developing plans for consultations and masterplan studies, leading to a recommendation on the best way forward for the project.

The new white-water course will be available for a test event in 2011 and for pre-Games training and competition use.

ODA chief executive David Higgins said: 'We are committed to delivering a high quality venue at Broxbourne that will provide an important sporting and regional legacy after the Games.'
