DRIVEN ROUND THE BEND

Amey Construction has broken through to complete tunnelling work on the Perry Hall to Gravelly sewer tunnel in Birmingham. The 2.6 km-long, 3.05 m-diameter tunnel was driven through sandstone and incorporates a crossing of the M6 just north of Spaghetti Junction. The contract for Severn Trent Water is due for completion in March 2000.
