Drivers get ready for lights, camera, action

PLANT

SPILLARD Safety Systems has integrated its rear view camera and objection detection radar to produce an in-cab object warning system.

The Optronics ESP system alerts operators to the presence of an object within range of the radar sensor by displaying an increasing number of white chevrons from each corner of the in-cab monitor.

The closer the object is to the machine, such as a wheeled loader or ADT, the more chevrons are displayed, until ultimately the four diagonals meet at the centre of the screen.

At the same time, an audible alarm increases in loudness as the object is approached.

The firm believes the integration of the camera with the detection system will provide more prompting for the plant operator.
