Durkan wins £13m refurb contract

Community contractor Durkan has won a £13 million job to refurbish Arlington House in Camden for the Novas Scarman Group.

Work started on the 100 year-old hostel for homeless men in April and Durkan will continue by carrying out its job in phases to minimise disruption.

When complete the facility will have capacity to house up to 130 people in a mix of supported and self-contained accommodation.

As part of the redevelopment Durkan will also provide a training and conference centre providing training programmes and conferencing facilities to the voluntary, private and statutory sectors.

Social enterprise/workspace units and retail space will be available to develop ideas and learn new skills.
