Durkan wins £22.6m housing contract

Durkan has been awarded a £22.6 million contract to design and build 167 new homes for the Metropolitan Housing Trust in Harrow, London.

The scheme will redevelop the existing residential estate at Strongbridge Close which will include 143 flats in three contemporary buildings and 24 houses.

Up to 107 rental properties, 40 shared-ownership homes and 20 flats for private sale.

Durkan will also be improving the associated adopted highway and drainage infrastructure, landscaping and renewing the existing mains services.

Metropolitan Housing Trust Nick Weston said: “Metropolitan Housing has a strong reputation for providing affordable homes of high quality. Durkan were meticulous in producing both a competitive tender and robust qualitative submission.”

The scheme is due to be completed by June 2011.
