Durkan wins £7.3m social housing project

Durkan has won a £7.3 million deal to build nearly 60 apartments for social housing firm Community Housing Association in east London.

The Plaistow project will involve transforming a 4,500 sq m disused brown field site into a multi-storey building of between 3 and 5 levels.

Construction, which will involve building 33 apartments for shared ownership and the remaining 24 for rented accommodation, is due to finish in May 2009. The development also includes a special needs school.

David Wood Architects is behind the plans which also include communal gardens, play areas and associated residents parking.
