Edge safety ignored



Safety, I think most of us agree, should be paramount on all projects, irrespective of size.

It therefore continues to surprise me that events such as those in the photograph on page 21 of the March 16 edition of Construction News still happen.

The picture shows concrete spraying with no roof edge protection where the work is being undertaken around the base of the structure, scaffold poles on which workers could fall, precarious ladder positioning, filled bags obstructing the scaffold platform and a man with no hi-vis clothes or hard hat.

It looks like an accident waiting to happen.
