Specialist contractor and plant hire firm PC Harrington is planning a major push into the Middle East in a bid to boost its turnover by a dramatic amount in the next two years, Construction News reveals this week.

In a rare interview PC Harrington chairman Pat Harrington said he is keen to tap into the burgeoning markets of Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.

Elsewhere the industry is fearing the worst from the budget fuelled by today’s announcement from the coalition government to cut £2 billion from projects spend.  

Four firms are understood to have submitted PQQs for the £400 million contract to replace the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
