Elliott is top for site cabins

LETTERS

Sir, Further to your report regarding the Speedy Hire acquisition of Caledonian Hire (Plant, February 9) we must correct a statement made by Steve Corcoran, Speedy's chief executive Without wishing to enter into a slanging match with an esteemed competitor, we feel we should advise both Mr Corcoran and your readers that rather than 'most of our f leet' being of timber manufacture, only 2 per cent of the 44,000 buildings operated by Elliott are now timber, with most of these on long-term hires with clients.

Almost without exception all hires undertaken by Elliotthire across the UK now involve steel buildings and that includes our large range of executive jackleg units.

It is clear that Speedy Hire's 24,500 accommodation units comprise a significantly smaller hire f leet than Elliott, confirming us as the UK's number one.

We are happy to say that across Europe our sister company Algeco exceeds that figure, with over 106,000 steel units across 10 countries.
