Emcor staff get blacklist reassurance

M&E CONTRACTOR Emcor has denied claims that the firm illegally 'blacklisted' troublemakers in a memo to its staff.

Emcor was one of four accused of blacklisting by whistleblower Alan Wainwright, a former business improvement director at the company.

Mr Wainwright has published a list of more than 1,000 allegedly blacklisted electricians on three dispute-hit contracts as part of a tribunal claim against former employer Haden Young.

But the memo to staff from operations director Chris Raven said: 'Having reviewed the Jubilee Line Extension site list I can confirm we have recruited in excess of 50 of the named people from this list back into the business, with the majority still employed. We have also recruited applicants from the Royal Opera House and the Pfizer project lists.' He added: 'I do appreciate that you may be concerned your name has been listed? The fact that over 50 named people have been re-employed contradicts the claims. Emcor do not operate blacklists.'
