Energy cost hits Games

RISING energy costs could add £90 million to the cost of London's 2012 Olympics, the Construction Products Association has warned.

A survey of members showed recent rises had added at least 3 per cent to the price of construction products.

It warns that energy costs have direct implications for public expenditure and investment, 'adding potentially £90 million to the cost of delivering the Olympic Games'.

The survey said: 'It is extremely likely that the full impact of the rise has yet to filter through.'
