Eurolink and Taywood in battle for £60m tunnel job

TWO CONTENDERS will lock horns in the final contest for a £60 million tunnelling job on the £3 billion Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

Industry insiders have said that only two challengers are now left in the hunt for Contract 410, the North Downs Tunnel in Kent.

Rail Link Engineering has pared down the chasing pack of five to the Eurolink consortium (Miller/Dumez GTM/Monierbau) and Taylor Woodrow.

Balfour Beatty/Amec, Tracklink (Mowlem/Holzmann/Besix) and BCS (Bilfinger & Berger/Campenon Bernard/Soletanche) have now fallen by the wayside.

Sources said that Eurolink and Taylor Woodrow will now work on updated and revised bids before a single preferred bidder emerges.

Contract 410, which takes in a stretch between the Medway tunnel and Ashford, includes a 3.2 km concrete-lined tunnel and 4.4 km of rail alignment.
