Ex-Amec boss to sue

SACKED Amec construction boss Steve Bowcott is suing the company for unfair dismissal.

The former managing director of the group's construction services division was dismissed in June after failing to declare he had awarded a public relations contract to a company owned by his wife.

The case is due to be heard at the Manchester Employment Tribunal. Amec has been given until October 7 to respond to the action. A date for the tribunal has not yet been set but an Amec spokesman said: 'We will defend this claim robustly.' Mr Bowcott had been lined up to become the new chief executive at Geoffrey Osborne this month but the firm has yet to confirm an appointment.
