Ex-client chief to lead roll-out of NHS plan

ZARA Lamont is heading a Carillion team targeting the national roll out of NHS Estates' ProCure 21 scheme.

The former chief executive of the Construction Clients Confederation rejoined the firm after the CCC, to which she was seconded, was wound down in December.

Ms Lamont will help the firm chase one of between five and eight places on the framework which is worth up to £1.4 billion a year to carry out hospital schemes valued at more than £1 million across England.

She said: 'I hope I can bring my experience from the last five years about how the industry needs to change.

'The chosen firms are going to have to talk to each other. The sheer volume of work is going to be the main challenge because of the limit to the industry's capacity. We need to share knowledge of issues such as standardisation to achieve the best results.'

Prequalification documents are to be sent out to up to 130 firms next week.
