Extra on-site accommodation

A-Plant has increased its fleet of site accommodation units with the £5.8 million purchase of Norwest Holst’s portable accommodation portfolio.

A-Plant has in turn been given sole supplier rights to all of Norwest Holst’s associated companies for the next five years. The hire deal is for a minimum of £5 million but A-Plant said it is expected to be worth “significantly” more.

The purchase will see A-Plant’s fleet of site cabins, modular buildings, toilets and stores rise by 500 to 16,500 units, available from a 14-depot network.

At the same time, the two firms extended their plant and tool supply contract for a further five years. The deal continues a relationship between the firms which began 20 years ago when A-Plant bought Norwest’s plant and tool subsidiary Key Plant.

Marketing director Asif Latief said: “This is a good strategic move for us. Accommodation is often first on site, so it allows us to introduce customers to our other products.”
