Eye witnesses

'I was offered a bribe by the co-client of a project to issue a practical completion certificate early. This would have released money from the funding bank that was due to issue a drawdown at PC. The clients in th is case were relying on the bank to fund the project that had gone seriously over-budget. Needless to say, I refused the bribe.'

'I was once offered the use of a holiday home in Portugal for unspecified favours - naturally I declined and never used that contractor again. A colleague, since retired, was offered a car by a steeplejack company to promote its use for carrying out surveys.

'Some colleagues often attend golfing/football events at the invitat ion of cont ractors. What they discuss at these events I don't know.'
