Female recruitment a success for Festival

The Festival Housing Group’s Women in Construction scheme has been hailed a success after it recruited five females to its maintenance division.

The women, ranging in age from 17 to 55, have been working since October in a range of jobs including kitchen fitting, wiring, painting and plumbing.

Malvern-based Festival Housing Group set up the initiative after it realised that none of the 138 workers in its Property Care Partnership were female.

All of the women will follow a training programme which will lead to an NVQ Level 2 in Fitted Interiors.
