Filter breakthrough

SPECIALIST division Speedy Power claims to have made a breakthrough in generator technology with the launch of an oil filter system that it says will allow generators to run eight times longer than usual.

The Puradyn system, which removes sulphur and other additives from the oil, allows a typical generator to run for 2,000 hours, or 83 days, on the trot before requiring routine maintenance.

Engineering director Brian Cornett said: 'Effectively it recycles the oil, removing the waste condensate created by the sulphur with a heater coil.

'Sites that operate all day can significantly reduce the interruptions that a generator service brings and the 45 minutes or so of downtime for a service soon adds up. For our telecoms contracts it avoids the risk of sending an engineer to remote locations.'
