Bethell Construction's Anthony Melody was the lucky winner of a gleaming MG ZR sports car in a safety competition run by the Bovis Lend Lease Shambles site in Manchester city centre.

Project manager Peter Millett introduced the initiative last January with weekly prizes of £10 vouchers for safetyconscious operatives.

Subcontractors were also assessed each month and the winning firm was given safety boots and jackets to hand out to staff. Each winning contractor was entered into a grand final, with Bethell being picked out of the hat before Anthony came up trumps in the company draw.
