Fines are not enough

JUDGING by the recent well-publicised fines for breaches of health and safety regulations it appears the Health and Safety Executive is beginning to root out the main culprits.

But as long as the client and contractor are gaining financially from such breaches, they will continue.

As an asbestos removal contractor I see the growing spate of prosecutions are slowly taking effect but they will ultimately prove fruitless unless the fines are increased or jail sentences imposed.
