Finger-loss accident puts screeder in dock

A BUCKINGHAMSHIRE screeding firm is being prosecuted over an accident on the Wembley Stadium project in which a 17-year-old lost two fingers.

Aztec Screeding, based in Chalfont St Peter, is due in City of London Magistrates' Court on July 17 over the December 2004 incident.

The Health and Safety Executive is prosecuting the firm after the worker sustained the injury trying to retrieve a bag from the unguarded mixing blades of the machine.

Aztec owned the machine, which was under the control of Ilford firm Excel Plastering.
