Finning appoints health and safety head

Equipment dealer Finning has poached a senior figure from the Environment Agency to head up a new health and safety role at the group.

Jim Gray was in charge in of regulatory policies and for modernizing the way the agency regulates business.

His new role as head of safety, health, environment and quality at the at the Caterpillar distributor will be to spearhead improvement programmes across all lines of business within the group including heavy construction, general construction, Finning Power Systems and general plant hire firm Hewden.

A team of 15 specialist staff will work for him, covering England, Wales and Scotland.

Mr Gray said: “We need everyone across Finning in the UK to recognise that safety, health, the environment and quality, is everyone’s business. By doing this, we can continue to build on our already impressive record and improve standards right across the business.”
