Firefighters to stage second walkout

The Fire Brigades Union will stage a second three-hour walkout in the West Midlands today in a dispute over a new shift system.
FBU members in the region first went on strike on November 14 and a further stoppage will take place next Monday if West Midlands Fire Service does not meet the union's demands for compensation for changes to working conditions.

Today's industrial action begins at 7am, forcing a joint military task force to provide life-saving cover from a network of 11 Territorial Army bases and a police station.
