Firms chase £32m City Academy

THREE firms have lined up for a £32 million City Academy, which is being sponsored by contractor Multiplex.

John Sisk, Galliford Try and Norwest Holst have made the shortlist for the Westminster Academy in Westbourne Green, west London.

The academy is being sponsored by the Aussie builder after it acquired part of property group Chelsfield, which originally proposed the academy to Westminster City Council.

The firm is discussing with the Department for Education and Skills how much of up to £2 million it will donate.

The building will house 1,200 pupils. Bids for the academy are due back on August 5.

A decision on the winner will be made later that month. Work is due to start this autumn.
