Firms in line for Chunnel link deals

Three bidders have dropped out: Christiani & Nielsen/Morrison/Tilbury Douglas; Kier/Nuttall; and Tarmac.

On Contract 420, running from Mid Kent-Boxley Valley to Lenham Heath and worth £100 million, three groups have been short-listed. They are Taylor Woodrow/Sir Robert McAlpine joint venture; Hochtief/Norwest Holst joint venture; and Alfred McAlpine/Amec.

Bouygues and the Mowlem/Philipp Holzmann/Besix consortium failed to make the short list.

Rail Link Engineering will award the contracts in spring for an immediate start on site.
