Firms invited to submit bids for Nation Towers work in Abu Dhabi

Companies have been invited to submit bids by 23 December for a construction package on the Nation Towers project on Abu Dhabi corniche.

The works involve digging a tunnel underneath the corniche road that will connect the towers with the beach.

South Korea's Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Company in a joint venture with the local National Projects Construction, and the local Arabtec Construction submitted bids for the main contract works in July, but it is now understood that the contract will be retendered to capitalise on falling commodity and contractor prices.

The project involves the construction of a retail area, and office and residential towers, with a total built-up area of 310,000 square metres.

Germany's Bauer is working on the enabling package. US-based Hill International is the project manager.

The local office of KEO International Consultants is the architect of record. Toronto-based WMZH is the concept architect.

The local International Capital Trading is the client (MEED 20:7:08).
