Firms prepare bids for Kuwait airport terminal

Bids for the design contract for the second terminal at Kuwait airport are to be submitted on 30 December.

A number of international firms are expected to bid for the design of the KD213m ($774m) terminal, including the UK's Foster & Partners, and two US companies, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Fentress Architects.

The terminal will be linked to the airport's existing terminal through a tunnel and connected to an access road from the south.

The new terminal is part of a wider plan to expand the airport, which could bring passenger capacity up to 20 million a year from 6 million at the moment (MEED 26:9:08).

The client is the Directorate General for Civil Aviation.
