Firms to run failing colleges

Failing colleges will be taken over by private companies or closed entirely under plans for reforming further education announced today.
A Government-commissioned review warned that Britain was in danger of slipping further down international league tables without action to help more people learn the skills they need for work.

Ministers must provide better leadership and coherent education policies, said former Audit Commission chief Sir Andrew Foster, who conducted the review.
