Willmott Dixon has taken on the most trainee managers in its 154-year history, with 36 starting at the firm this week. The group includes 10 trainees who studied degrees unrelated to construction and are now doing a CIOB or RICS Masters conversion course.

Willmott Dixon human resources head Chrissie Chadney said: 'We have people who studied subjects as varied as sports science, sociology, multimedia, Irish history and computing who see construction as a great place to forge a career.'
