Five-year Tarmac investment

MATERIAL

MATERIALS giant Tarmac has unveiled plans to pump more than £20 million of investment into its mortar business.

It will use the cash to expand its dry silo mortar interests in a phased programme over the next five years.

The first stage of the programme is to open two new dry silo mortar plants in the south-east ? one at its Stanway Quarry near Colchester, Essex, and the second at one of its centres south of the river Thames.

It will also splash out on 250 mobile silo units to allow dry silo mortar to be stored at individual sites.

Darren Waters, mortar director at Tarmac, said: 'We are investing in both areas of our mortar production and distribution business so we can provide customers with a complete start-to-finish service.'
