Flat profits

Pre-tax profits at Pochin's remained flat at £1.25 million for the six months to November 2002, rising just £3,000 on 2001. Turnover doubled to £34 million from £17 million through the sale of a development property in Bolton. The group's contracting arm returned to profitability but chairman Nicholas Pochin warned that specialist digging arm Avoidatrench was suffering from a hike in insurance premiums.
