Four line up for drugs research development

CONTRACTS WINDLESHAM

FOUR firms are competing for a £20 million pharmaceutical facility in Surrey.

Amec, Bovis Lend Lease, Laing O'Rourke and Skanska are on the shortlist for a new research facility at the Surrey site of US pharmaceuticals firm Eli Lilly. The new 6,000 sq m building is the second phase of the development at Windlesham, the company's research and development base.

Amec already provides a facilities management and property maintenance service at Eli Lilly's three sites in southern England.

Tenders are due to be returned by June 10. Construction is scheduled to start on August 1 with work expected to take around two years.
