Freight depot decision delayed

A decision over plans to build a rail and road freight depot in Kent have been put on hold, the Highways Agency has said.

The proposals for the interchange close to junction eight of the M20 at Bearsted were submitted by Kent International Gateway.

Maidstone Borough Council held an extensive consultation with residents to decide on the application by the original deadline of February 13.

However, a Highways Agency spokesman said that more information is needed from the developers about the depot's likely impact on traffic and the road network, before any decision can be made.
