GB win £13.5m HQ and housing contract

GB Building Solutions has won a £13.5 million partnering contract from Staffordshire Housing Association to construct its new headquarters and a 99-unit extra-care facility in Stoke-on-Trent.

The project will be undertaken on the site of recently demolished pottery Bilton Works.

GB Building – formerly Gleeson Building – will be the lead designer on the development, reverting to main contractor for the construction phase.

Work will begin in September and is scheduled for completion in March, 2010.

SHA has said the contract may then be expanded to include additional affordable housing.

GB chairman Martin Smout said: "This will be an important building for Staffordshire Housing Association as it will form its new head office as well as providing some much-needed extra-care accommodation.

"Staffordshire Housing Association puts a great focus on collaboration in order to develop the best possible building within the budget available; this fits exactly with GB Building Solutions ethos of working in partnership with our customers to produce the best solution in every circumstance."
