German woes hit Lavendon

Hirer Lavendon warned today that revenues have fallen 4 per cent across the group to the problems at its struggling German business.
The firm axed 100 jobs in the division last year and slashed the number of depots from 44 to 24 as weak market demand saw revenues fall 22 per cent.

Lavendon has also sold its Austrian business.

The poor performance in Germany has offset growth in the UK, France and the Middle East.

But Lavendon's French operation is still making an operating loss because of the cost of expanding the depot network.
