Zurich-based developer Swiss Re has been given the allclear by deputy Prime Minister John Prescott to build a 41-storey office tower, dubbed the 'erotic gherkin', seen here in an artist's impression, in the City of London.

Kvaerner will start work on the Sir Norman Foster-designed structure next year on the site of the former Baltic Exchange.
